Ultimate Candida Diet: Day 2 (Already Cheating)

I've been cheating since last night when I ate some peanuts, which means that I made it about 12 hours. Go me. I'm supposed to be doing seven days of this "Phase One: The Detox," a "very healthy, but strict, colon cleansing diet" that consists of three things:

  1. A diet of high-fiber veggies (only)
  2. A "detoxifier drink" three times a day
  3. A detox supplement

No fruits (too much sugar), no meats or fish (they're harder to digest), no nuts, no grains... not even sugary vegetables like carrots. These seven days are limited to:

artichoke, asparagus, avocado, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, green beans, bok choi, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, celery, chilies, cucumber, greens (collard, kale, mustard), leeks, okra, olives, onions, peppers, radish, salad greens, seaweed, swiss chard and water chestnuts.

Oh, and I can cook with herbs and spices, salt, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, coconut oil, coconut aminos and olive oil. But I can only cook one meal per day, so I gotta make it count. Today that meal was kale and it was so incredibly good.

The book says, "don't worry, this phase only lasts for one week!" It also tells me that it's "natural to feel a little hungry during the Detox phase." Yep, hungry alright. So last night I ate peanuts and today I got plain chicken on my salad (don't judge me).

And yet, despite my cheating, I'm definitely seeing some symptoms of "colon cleansing." This is good—it's doing something, at least. Breaking my sugar addiction isn't pleasant, but quick results certainly help.

Now I'm going to not wander into the kitchen and certainly not eat the pumpkin cheesecake bars that are sitting all lonely in the fridge.

Tomorrow I'm going to figure out a recipe (and I promise it will taste good, even though Tanya's out of town) to make with my twenty-something allowed ingredients. Check back.
